Jim received his law degree from Indiana University School of Law Bloomington, and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from The Ohio State University.  Prior to becoming a lawyer, Jim worked as a Design Engineer for the Advanced Product Development Group (Audio and Communications Systems) for Delco Electronics Corporation, formerly a subsidiary of General Motors.

Diversity and Community Involvement

Jim is a graduate of Leadership Denver (2011), and served on the Board of Directors for the Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation. He also served on the Boards of the Center for Inclusive Design and Engineering (University of Colorado Denver), Mi Casa Resource Center, the Denver Urban Debate League, and Colorado Lawyers for the Arts.  He was inducted into the “Hall of Fame” by the Denver Urban Debate League in recognition of his service to the organization.

Jim previously served as Chair of the Board of the Center for Legal Inclusiveness. He has also served for 6 years on the Board of Directors for the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Denver, where he was twice named “Board Member of the Year.”

In 2016, Jim founded the “Jim Pinto Minority Engineering Scholarship” at the Ohio State University Foundation which provided partial scholarships to diverse undergraduate engineering students. 

Red Rocks Law actively volunteers and supports various non-profits in Colorado. Jim also has volunteered by teaching introductory computer coding to elementary school students.
